RoadWatch® 3

RoadWatch® 3 is mainly for use by OTR
(Over the Road Trucks).

The ROADWATCH® 3 monitors both road surface and air temperature. This allows the driver to not only monitor air temperature, but by using “passive” infrared technology actually detect the possibility of road freeze and associated icing conditions. The sensor head is typically attached tot he outside of the driver's mirror, however, alternate mounting locations are acceptable. A small “window” in the bottom of the Sensor allows infrared energy (emissions) from the road to be focused into a detector and processed into the road surface temperature shown on the Display. Gauge can either be mounted on mirror glass or inside the cab of the truck.

The FlipTemp™ Display shows both air and road temperature on a single read-out. Air temperature will be displayed until the road surface temperature is detected at 40° F (4° C). At this time the display will “flip” to the infrared road temperatures and illuminate the amber “Caution” LED. When the road surface temperature rises above 50° (10° C) or drops below 10° F (-12° C), the display changes back to air temperature and the “Caution” LED no longer illuminates. The Display automatically adjusts display brightness, depending on ambient light conditions, to produce optimum readability in both nighttime and bright sunshine conditions.
